Introducing Our New Executive Director
“I’m Lisa Peterson and I came on as the new Executive Director on August 12, 2019. It’s been an incredibly exciting six weeks and I’m overwhelmed at the goodness and strength of each new person I meet! I’ve spent my first month and a half meeting and getting to know our team, volunteers, participants, board members, partner nonprofits, faith leaders, community leaders, business leaders and new friends. I’m just scratching the surface of amazing people to meet and learn from on our shared journey to raise up our neighbors.
Prior to UpWorks, I was at Partners in Food Solutions for 8 years. I was the Director of Finance & HR and a member of the senior leadership team. Partners in Food Solutions (PFS) works to strengthen food security by connecting corporate volunteers with entrepreneurial food companies throughout Africa. I greatly value and cherish all my colleagues, and all that I learned at PFS. At the same time, my family and I have had over a decade of working at street level ministries to be the hands and feet of Jesus. Coming to UpWorks now allows me to merge my professional expertise, with my calling to do full time Kingdom work.
We have so much planned for UpWorks in the next 12 months and even through the end of 2019. We’d love to have you to join us for our Christmas Gratitude Luncheon coming up on Friday, December 6th. It will be a chance to hear from our team, their vision, our impact, and especially from our recent graduates who have literally had their lives transformed – through God’s hand, their own incredibly hard work and the help of our Life Advocates. We would LOVE to see you there!”
