It is a thing most fantastic, Almost too terrific to be, That God’s own Son must originate from heav ‘n And pass away to conserve a kid like me. And yet I understand that it holds true: He selected a bad and simple lot
And wept and labored and grieved and passed away
For love of those who liked Him not.

I can not inform how He might enjoy
A kid so weak and loaded with sin;
His love should be most terrific
If He might die my love to win.

I in some cases consider the cross,
And shut my eyes, and attempt to see
The vicious nails and crown of thorns
And Jesus crucified for me.

Even might I see Him pass away,
I might however see a little part
Of that fantastic love which, like a fire,
Is constantly burning in His heart.

It is most fantastic to understand
His love for me so complimentary and sure;
But’t is more fantastic to see
My love for Him so faint and bad.

And yet I wish to enjoy Thee, Lord;
O light the flame within my heart,
And I will enjoy Thee a growing number of
Until I see Thee as Thou art.
